Victoria Square
Victoria Square was once the commercial heart of Christchurch, known then as Market Square.
The Square features statues of Queen Victoria (1903) and of Captain Cook (1932) and the floral clock.
It is the site of the oldest of the city’s iron bridges, and also still there is a stone ramp leading down to the river, once used for watering horses.
