The first ever FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup is being held in New Zealand from 28 October to 16 November this year with a total of 32 matches to be played in Christchurch, Wellington, Hamilton and Auckland.
Christchurch has the privelege of hosting some of the best footballing nations such as Germany, Brazil, Japan, Korea DPR and Paraguay.... plus the semi-finals!
All FIFA tournaments are run the same as the main FIFA World Cup - the biggest sporting event in the world - so this is a chance to taste that atmosphere right here in our own backyard! It will be a fantastic spectacle with 16 of the world's best footballing nations taking part after a qualification process involving more than 100 countries.
The event also provides a great opportunity to showcase New Zealand, with at least 150 territories taking the broadcasting rights and over 100 million people expected to watch the event worldwide.
